I can’t say enough good about this company. First of all, when they came to clean the chimney, they identified a very dangerous situation immediately. Underneath my woodburning stove was a live and uncapped gas line that was just pinched shut. Not only did the previous chimney person I used not see that, but the home inspector when we bought the home didn’t see it. The folks from Wandering Brushes Chimney Sweeps fixed that situation very quickly, and during the holidays! I used my wood-burning stove after the service, and it was like I had a new house. So warm and no back draft at all. Also, the people were just really courteous and efficient.
I hired a "Wandering Brushes Chimney Sweeps&Stove" last winter to clean my chimney for wood stove. According to him, my old wood stove is not safe and I must purchase one from him. We agreed on the price. The installer Roger made an error when he cut the black pipe too short during the installation process. Until he can reorder the new one, he has decided to put a temporary back up, and he will change it by spring. He never came back with the correct pipe. I contacted him to remind him that I was still waiting, but his response stated that he did not understand what I was referring to and that he never cut black pipe for me. Therefore, I sent him a video of himself cutting a black pipe on my Youtube channel entitled "How I survived NC winter in the barn they said a house." His next response was that what I have today is even better, and he could change it if I did not like it, but I would have to pay for his time and materials. I was quite shocked that he wanted to double charge me for his error. I have contacted the Fire Marshal of the Health Department who reviews this matter. He states that it does not meet approval and considered a fire hazard. As a result of the stove no longer functioning and generating fire, smoke is being generated inside the house, ashes are everywhere, and the insulation he left on the ceiling is melting and is causing very unpleasant chemicals to be released into the air, which made me feel nauseous for many weeks. As you can see on the image it starts dripping from the insulation because condensation mixed with soot due to the pipe not being correct and not installed correctly with dripless connector. A number of professionals observed this and were shocked as they have never seen anyone do such an unsafe job in their lives. Because a wood stove is the only source of heat I am freezing alone with my animals today. Sadly, no professionals are willing to come and clean out of code pipe I have today from Roger. I have attempted to resolve the issue with Roger by emails and given him the opportunity to rectify his mistake, but he is being extremely difficult and arrogant. He thinks everyone is wrong and he is the only one right. His interpretation that I was asking for things for free, I explained many times that all I asked was for him to replace the stainless steel pipe with the black pipe that he originally worked with but was cut too short and promised to replace. As a result, since my place gets below 40 F inside during the freeze.I cannot stay at my place too long and have to leave somewhere else during the freeze. Because other professionals mentioned he did not know what he was doing I asked him to provide me with his business license number for installation and he refused that too. Since he refused to take responsibility for his poor workmanship and I feel like he took advantage of me as a single woman I do not recommend his services to anyone and want others to be aware.
I am so grateful to have found Wandering Brushes and the amazing people behind the scenes Roger & Sonya! It is so refreshing and rare these days to have a company return the phone call quickly, show up on time or in my case reschedule because of rain (excellent communication & cooperation in this process) and have the job done with integrity and a superior wood stove that I received and had installed by Roger. I am so impressed with these amazing stoves that I have been blessed that Roger is a CORE member of our Truth Seekers Water Festival as he brings forth solutions, warmth, care & love for all people all over the world. Do yourself a favor and call them first! And if you feel like giving up because of the lack of professionalism in this area & all the rip off artists, DON'T give up! Call Wandering Brushes and know your going to be safely warm because things were done RIGHT! Many Blessings to Wandering Brushes every day & night!
Our house was inspected a month before moving in and all the inspection pointed out was the flashing around the chimney, that’s why these guys were hired. Had them fix the flashing around the chimney before we moved into our house, cost us $800, kinda seemed alittle expensive but whatever, about 7ish months later we start having a major leak come in on the inside of the house at the fireplace where our tv is hanging. I went into the attic and you can see straight into the sky around the side of the chimney. Call the guy he comes out and first tells me he seen an issue when he was fixing it but figured he’d try to save me money and not tell me! That immediately pissed me off! Then basically says he’s not experienced enough with the rain down here because the rain back in his hometown up north is different and says he’s going to fix it and he will give me some discount since he didn’t tell me to begin with! Quotes me another $800 to fix HIS mistake. Needless to say he didn’t not get called back for business simply because there was no more trust that he would fix it seeing he left a mess last time. Highly not recommended.
I had a great experience with Wandering Brushes. Roger arrived early and was obviously experienced and knowledgeable. He evaluated 2 chimneys and gave me extra advice about my home’s aging brick and roof. I also had an issue with my woodstove that he helped me solve. I highly recommend and will definitely use them in the future!
