I’m still giving some stars because the employee I worked with was friendly and took time to explain details to me, and I honestly don't believe there was any bad-intent. That said, I had a disappointing experience with the Flue Doctor last winter. We moved into a new house, and had them out to inspect the (gas) fireplace to ensure it was safe to use. After getting the all-clear, we started using it only to notice a gas smell. I found and fixed one leak myself, but could still smell a little gas. They came back out and sure enough there was a leak from the control valve that they hadn’t caught during the inspection. We were told that they would be in touch with quotes for a rebuild and/or replacement, only to never hear from them again. Having paid for an inspection that failed to catch two gas leaks, I wasn’t super eager to continue working with them anyways, so I didn’t bother following up. Still a bummer to have paid good money for a cleaning and inspection only to still go the winter without being able to use the unit.
Amazing customer service and excellent work. They repaired and cleaned my wood stove. They were on time and worked efficiently. It was a matter of a couple days from the time I called to the scheduled appointment, which was extremely important because I couldn’t use my stove during a very cold spell.
Got to say, these guys are top notch. They came out and took a look at our fireplace in our rental and provided very knowledgeable feed back on how to bring it up to code. Super professional and nice. Highly recommend these guys for any wood stove need/service. Very reasonable prices and the admin scheduling service calls was very nice and pleasant.
I called them out to inspect AND clean my flue at my new house. I have a steep roof and I think it influenced their decision making. I specifically chose them because they are one of the only companies in the area that have the ability to inspect the flue with a camera. They went up on the roof shined a flashlight down the flue, and told me everything looked good with their visual inspection then charged me over $100. I told them that I wanted the chimney inspected AND cleaned as previously discussed on the phone. He said he would have to charge an additional $50 -100 (I can’t remember exactly how much) to actually clean the chimney. I was so mad and stuck between a rock & a hard spot, I chose to just have him leave. He was literally at my house for 15 min and charged over $100 to shine a flashlight down the flue. I’ve seen other places clean the flue, clean and vacuum the fireplace for the same price. I felt like he cut corners & was out to make a quick buck. I was so dissatisfied with his service I have his business card on the fridge so I know who NOT to call again. If you want someone to take the easy route choose him. If you want it done right choose somebody else.
I replaced a gas stove with a wood stove in the middle of summer. I have been attempting to have a professional come out to inspect my chimney to make sure I was good to go with wood. I also needed stove pipe installed inside. An unnamed company had given me the run around for the last few months, and missed a scheduled appointment. I ran into Shad and his partner at my local grocery store today and asked them a few questions. They stated they were swamped with business and not able to do installs before winter, however they stated if they had time, they would stop by and see what I had. No less than an hour later, they arrived at my home. They inspected the chimney and stated I was good. They also had the interior stove pipe I needed, and replaced my chimney cap. To top it off, they painted the top of my used wood stove making it look new again. All of this, by running into them at a grocery store. They stated they still had five other jobs for the day in my area. They were both extremely professional and polite. I would highly recommend this business to anyone who needs the service
