Questionable experience. I had a lot of "warning bells" after my experience with Longwood Chimney Exp. The tech was punctual and friendly enough, but showed up with a super-clean new tool bag and no PPE of any kind-- no gloves, mask, eye protection, etc. Put his face in the fireplace and opened the damper and got a bunch of stuff in his face and eyes. Fine, he's new. He did seem to check somewhat thoroughly, and also went up on the roof, then promptly came back with pictures to quote me a bunch of $$ to replace my damper and cap after approval from the office. Not to say that they don't need replacing, but my options were a bunch of money to "fix" what I have and have them fail in two years, or more money to replace everything. No options to get my fireplace working for less than $1k. I didn't feel confident in any of it so I offered to pay for the inspection. He didn't seem to know how much the inspection cost was and requested more than I was quoted. I had to call the office to verify the cost of the inpection. Then he had me write a check to some other company besides Longwood Chimney. They didn't email a receipt as I was told. LCE does not show a license # on ther website, my guess is that they're just dispatching whichever company they could get to your home. Now I'm watching my bank to make sure the check clears for the amount that I wrote on it. Find another service.
