My wife and I own a small house c.1945 in Asheville, NC. Roughly a year after purchasing the house, we had Emberstone come out to inspect our chimney to see if it was safe to use. We were told it wasn’t, and were sold their service to fix our wood-burning fireplace and chimney. We naively accepted their bid of $13,000 on good faith, as we were coming into winter and desperately needed a working chimney because our house has no heat or air. We don’t make a lot of money, but it was 48* in our home at night, and something had to be done. They came out, repainted the firebricks, put in a flue liner and installed a new cap. They had to come back out two weeks later because smoke was pouring into our living room from the fireplace, which happened to be caused by their installation of an incorrectly sized flue liner. The person responsible apparently had to be fired after messing up multiple other jobs. Two months down the road, they had to come back to fix the flue chain bracket, as the tension on the screws had turned the fire brick to dust and the bracket had fallen off. Fast forward two years to now, and were again unable to have a fire and heat our house because the mortar between the firebricks is cracking and falling out, exposing non-fireproof material, and the bracket has again turned the firebrick to dust and is barely hanging in. $13,000 for what turned out to be roughly 20 fires. We’re heartbroken. We invested heavily in service we thought would stand the test of time and keep us warm, but the poor craftsmanship has left us cold and without the funds to repair it again. I read multiple articles today that stated construction of a brand-new chimney could cost up to $13k, and knowing what we were charged for the work that was done, my heart sank and I felt like such a fool. Y’all should be ashamed.

Brian and Adam installed a new gas insert for our fireplace. They even gave us some advice on how to clean up some of the smoke damage left behind from previous owners. Finally after years of living in the house, our basement is warm and inviting again. We are very happy with their work and our new fireplace and we look forward to spending a lot more time in our basement. Thanks for everything.

Brian and Jesse were fantastic… Helped to weatherproof, seal and put a brand new beautiful copper cap on one of our chimneys on our historical home. They were so kind, professional and detail oriented… Top-notch service! Thank you, Emberstone!

Brian and Adam went above and beyond getting our Buck Stove all hooked up! They were a pleasure to work with and were in no rush to explain everything to us. Connor started the job off and was very knowledgeable and thought about the best solution to complete our job. Amazing job you guys!!! Thank you so much!!!

Emberstone put in our gas insert about a year ago and they’ve been fantastic. Great service, super friendly team, and their prices were way more reasonable than other quotes we got in Asheville. Mojo the Pug is also a huge fan!
