If I could give this establishment a zero I would. I made an appointment for a morning slot and as a teacher took off time so that a sub could come in for my classroom. Received Voicemails from Dr. soot stating that my appointment was on 8/25/25 and it was confirmed. The morning that the chimney sweeper was to show I contacted Dr. Soot to verify my appointment at 9 o’clock. I received a call at almost 9 AM stating that their journeyman had quit and that I needed to reschedule. As you can imagine, I was clearly upset as I had to jump through hoops to schedule time off. As this establishment does not do weekends or any appointments after 3:30 It’s impossible for me to keep taking off time if their journeyman quit again.
This is by far the best chimney cleaning I've had. George is the man you need to have do your chimney or Woodstove cleaning. Thorough, on time, professional and passionate about his work and making sure the customers are happy. I've had several over the years but this is the absolute best.
So back before Dr. Soot offered chimney relining with Heat Shield, they recommended another company, Midtown, to reline my chimney after a cleaning/inspection. I had Midtown do that only to find out when Dr. Soot did an inspection recently, that the relining had not been done completely. Dr. Soot said my chimney was unsafe to use (I had been using it after the "relining" by Midtown). Dr. Soot gave me a very high estimate to fix what the company they had recommended had screwed up. I'm a senior citizen on social security. It is too late to take Midtown to small claims, and Dr. Soot was unwilling to even give me a price break on redoing the job I'd already paid for. I'm disgusted. Am done with Dr. Soot. They have billed me over $200 for telling me that the people they recommended I use did not do the job. They didn't even clean the chimney. Just told me the holes in the mortar were there and gave me the estimate for Dr. Soot to do the job over. They should be ashamed of themselves. Also, until they offered relining with Heat Shield, they told people they wouldn't recommend it as it didn't last. Now that they do it, they apparently think it's a good product. If I could give zero stars I would. This company just doesn't care about their customers.
Glad I was able to get an appointment before Christmas. Being new to wood fireplaces with a new home I wanted to make sure everything was good to go before use. Along with cleaning he performed a full multi-point inspection of the fireplace which included a camera through the chimney. He documented all inspection points with a concise paper report. Fortunately there were no major issues found. Lou was courteous, professional and willing to explain the dos and donts to keep my fireplace safe and well maintained. Based on my own research their rates are competitive given the provided services. They weren't the cheapest quote I got but also weren’t the priciest. Something important to note- their technicians are certified. I noticed not everyone I received quotes from could say that. On matters of fire, plumbing, gas and electricity I believe certification is very important. Also not everyone provides camera inspections, visual inspections wont catch everything. Don’t try to save a buck to forgo both those points, you want people who know what they're doing. I would highly recommend their services & plan to call again next spring, thanks for coming out Lou!
I never leave reviews. When you change the price to $1700.00 to deep clean my stove, that you maintained and I purchased from you. That's a problem. Then the owner storms out after the accusation of bait and switch. Not good business. Very disappointed in the direction. Telling me you need to purchase a special application tool. Interesting.
