  This jerk strung along my wife via text messages for about 2 weeks asking for pictures of the work we needed done (Batchelder tile repair). He asked questions over text; she replied immediately with info and images of the work. She asked for a time to meet and he ghosted her. I called twice and left two very polite messages--nothing. texted the number again--nothing. If you don't want the work, don't string people along for weeks. What a jerk.

  We were referred to Jim and his company Authentic Fireplaces by our realtor. We had just bought our home and the fireplace had to be repaired as it was unsafe. Jim came and checked out our fire place. He was very knowledgeable and I trusted him. He came in with his crew and did a great job. They were clean and quick and obviously knew what they were doing. They inserted a new sleeve, grouted the top and put in the bird screen and repaved the fire box. Here is when things went wrong. I asked then to stub in a gas line so that I could turn the fireplace from wood to gas. They did so and told me to call them when we wanted to install the new fire logs and the gas line for the system. We said Great ! Talk to you soon. Wrong! That was November or so of 2020. Since that time (yes, almost a year) we have not been able to get in touch with anyone in the company via text, email or phone except for once. I did get a text back when I asked Jim if he could refer someone to us to finish the job since he was too damn busy to answer me. He texted back two names, neither of which ever returned my repeated calls. So, back to the gas line they stubbed up. I had to call someone who actually can communicate on the phone and they came and had to redo the stub up as it was in the wrong place. My advice is don't let Jim leave until he is done because chances are you will never hear from him again. 5 Stars initially for the work done. One star finally for being a jerk and never returning my call.

  Jim Crawford and his team did an incredible job on our chimney and fireplace repair and remodel. Jim came highly recommend as the best masonry chimney/fireplace expert in the area. That meant he was in high demand. After working with him, I can see why. He emphasized safety above all, and he ensured all work was done to artisan standards. He was also able to refer us to excellent contractors for other parts of our project (carpenter, tile setter, etc.). I highly recommend Jim for any masonry fireplace project.

  I called Jim Crawford after numerous other contractors said he was the best guy in San Diego. He came out to my small church and assessed our crumbling chimney and provided a quote to completely seal it as we no longer needed a fireplace but were taking in water when it rained. He and he team did an amazing job and all of our moisture issues are gone. HIRE HIM !
